iPad Tablet Alternatives
As of July 21, 2010 Apple had sold 3.27 million iPads. That means in 110 days Apple had managed to ship just under 3.5 million iPads, a rate of 29,727 per day. However, the tablet market is lucrative and other companies and businesses are wishing to get in on the act and rock the Apple boat.
Yet Apple is not sitting back and have fought back with the release of the iPad 2. A tablet that even though not revolutionary completely sold out in 24 hours of its release in the UK. Have Apple managed to win against more technologically advanced tablets?
Many companies are trying to bridge the gap between home entertainment (iPad) and on-the-road entertainment (iPhone). The likes of Dell have released the Dell Streak for that very purpose. We look at your possible iPad tablet alternatives.
BlackBerry Playbook
The rivalry for Appleās beloved place of tablet computer overlord seems to be heating up. The BlackBery Playbook is one of the most user friendly tablets on the market to date. The BlackBerry Playbook is not just to rival the release of the iPad 2 but also to try and imitate the success of the much loved Blackberry phones which have found themselves nestled in the pockets of numerous CEOs and BBM addicts across the globe.
Dell Streak, Samsung Galaxy Tab
Nonetheless, the iPad rivals pack certain features that the iPad lacks and potential outstrips the iPad. For instance the HP Slate, the Dell Streak and the Samsung Galaxy Tab all feature expandable memory via a microSD or SD card slot as well as incorporating both a front facing and rear facing camera, it really does seem that Apple have alot to compete with. The Samsung Galaxy Tab has been officially unveiled - and has Flash support unlike the iPad.
iPad 2
However, Apple as usual have stepped up to the competition and released the iPad 2. A logically evolutionary step from the iPad as was taken from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 4. The benefit of this slightly re-designed iPad is not alot but is more than enough to rock the boat of its competitors.
However, if we are honest with ourselves we have to admit that unlike Apple's previous gadgets such as the iPhone 4 and the iPad, the iPad 2 is certainly not a revolutionary gadget. It is simply a slightly smaller, lighter, faster, front-camera including iPad.
There is also the Archos 9 PC tablet. It may be a tablet, but it's far from being an iPad competitor.
