Acer eMachine E430-101G16Mi Laptop Review
The E430-101G16Mi features the AMD Sempron M100 Single Core, with a processing speed of 2GHz perfect combination along with Windows 7 Home Premium. The single core processor decently handles internet surfing, music and video playing along with office applications and light internet games. However, unlike dual core processors the single core buckles under the pressure of multi-threaded applications or during heavy multi-tasking and so can cause the user to be careful with what programs are running and when.
The eMachine also boasts a reasonably large 15.6" WXGA LCD screen perfect to watch your videos and do those nagging assignments with enough space.
However, the adequate screen space is hinder by the GMA 4500M share Intel Graphics Media Accelerator for a number of reasons. Even though the chipset itself is capable of decoding HD videos it bumps into trouble when decoding 1080p videos fluently due to a slow clock rate. Furthermore, the gaming performance of the 4500M is quite simply miserable, less demanding 3D games and very old games may run fluently in low detail settings. However, recent non-3D games such as Sims 3 achieved 30 frames per second in low details and low resolutions, even though there were numerous stutters. However, the more consumption of the chipset is minimal and so makes up for its lack of compatibility with a wider range of games. The eMachine only packs 1GB of Ram which will cause problems if you’re a Vista lover as Vista alone will consume 512MB of the entire RAM. In addition, there is a 160HD which is more than adequate for a laptop weighing less than 3kg.
The eMachine is ideal for those on the go and for those using simply applications such as word processing. However, it packs enough of a punch to be able to handle most of your multimedia needs.
