Acer Extensa 5235-571G16N Laptop Review
The Acer Extensa 5235-571G16N is the solution to the laptop user with a million and one peripherals. It’s general compatibility with webcams, cameras, mobile phones and printers is certainly thing, its speed for loading the driver of those devices is more than satisfactory.
However, this may partly be due to the Intel Celeron M processor which is a low voltage high speed processor, at a processing speed of 2.0GHz and for under £400 it is more than satisfactory.
The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator, GMA, 4500MHD is an on board shared memory GPU built in the GM45, GE45 and GS45 chipset. However, because of two more shaders and a higher clock speed it is much faster than the old GMA X3100. However, this GPU is certainly not gamer friendly, if you’re lucky at most it’ll support DirectX 10 games with very low settings. However, the integrated video processor is able to decode HD video.
Acer have included a 15.6” screen, a screen used in more than half of all notebooks, 15.4” displays with 16:10 aspect ratio are the standard now a days for notebook displays. However nowadays, more and more 16:9 displays with 15.6 inch appear. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.
The laptop has been kept compact inline with the screen and weighs 2.5kg, lighter than the average notebooks but too heavy for sub-notebooks. However, for this weight range you would expect a 14” inch screen and not a 15.6” inch screen, so a plus point there.
Overall, a great laptop for a great price with a great specification.
