Alienware Aurora mALX Laptop Review
This laptop is built entirely for games, gamers and gaming but before we get into how amazing the Alienware Aurora mALX is at handling games lets look at its equally nice design.
The chassis is a Clevo M590K which is used by many other laptop manufacturers but this case has a certain menace about it due to the glossy black coating.
Alienware took a normal blank lid and viewed it as a canvas and painted it. The lid comes with an airbrushed image of the foot of an alien. The lid also has the familiar Alienware head that changes colour depending on the angle you view it from.
The keyboard is very comfortable for playing games it may not have the highlighted gaming keys that the Asus G2P comes with but this keyboard is just as good. Just above the keyboard are a set of speakers and shortcut keys that control the laptops integrated webcam, Bluetooth and the web browser.
The mALX also comes with a number of ports, 5 USB ports, a mini FireWire port and a 4-in-1 memory card reader that supports SD, MS, MSPRO and MMC cards.
The graphics card is the fastest mobile GPU available it is a pair of Nvida GeForce Go 7900 GTX graphics cards. If you though having the fastest mobile GPU available wasn’t enough Alienware have also given you Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS PC Card, if you hooked this up to a set of good quality speakers then my friend you shall enter an entirely different world.
A 19” screen sounds impressive and perfect for gaming but unfortunately it isn’t as good as it seems. It has a limited resolution and so can be a hindrance to your gaming quality. The screen may not be perfect for all games but it is amazing for watching DVD movies or viewing your holiday snaps.
The Aurora mALX comes with a decent quality CD writer and storage space but for the amount of money that Alienware are asking I would expect more. Well Alienwares version of more is to give you a ALX backpack, an ALX portfolio, a name plate, a mouse pad, a polo shirt, a keychain, a pen and a Razer Diamond back gaming mouse.
Overall this laptop is not bad at all. It does offer a lot of power and an amazing gaming experience but I think for the amount of money you’re going to pay you’d expect a bit more and not just a pen and a polo shirt.
Overall laptops.co.uk gives the Alienware Aurora mALX 4 out of 5 stars.
