Apple iPhone 3GS Review
The iPhone 3GS is the logical step up from the iPhone 3G and even though they look identical there are numerous differences on the inside. Once you’ve used it you will then realise just how much better this great little thing is.
Even though the upgrade from the 3G to the 3GS was not as drastic as the upgrade we witnessed with the release of the iPhone 4. However, there are certainly some great improvements to be noted in the 3GS.
First and foremost the performance of the 3GS is far, far better than that of the 3G. The CPU speed of the 3GS is about 600MHz and when compared to the 400MHz of the iPhone 3G well you can see the difference yourself. Furthermore, just how the iPhone 4 witnesses 512MB double the RAM of the 3GS, at 256MB, the 3G only has a measly 128MB. The difference is noticed when loading apps and just generally using the phone and witnessing just how quick it is.
However, you might think that Apple’s focus on speed has jeopardised the battery life. Well no it hasn’t not one bit. In actual fact the battery life has increased to a respectable 5 hours on 3G.
The other and main upgrade is the camera a 3 megapixel camera that also boasts video recording and auto focusing for when talking still shots and even though it lacks a flash it is certainly a respectable upgrade that is much appreciated.
If you’re a current iPhone user and your companion is the 3G and you want a better, faster and more responsive iPhone but perhaps do not wish to fork out top dollar for the iPhone 4 then the 3GS is most likely your best bet.
