Asus X58L Laptop Review

The X58L from Asus is a moderately good looking low-end notebook. The laptop fails to stand out in any particular area but is particularly easy to use including a great 15.4” inch screen and easy to use and spacious keyboard.
The plain black chassis encases an Intel Celeron M575 and the thick screen panel adds bulk to the overall appearance as well as the robust and sturdy look of the laptop. Even though it looks particularly chunky it weighs in at a light 2.4kg. However, this is not ideal for those on the move and the two hour battery life is not certainly not ideal for users on the move.
Even though, like the rest of the laptop, the keyboard lacks design flair but is functional, firm and responsive. The large touchpad is just as usable and sturdy.
Music, movies and other media content can be copied onto disc or burned with ease thanks to a DVD rewriter and viewed on the notebook’s crisp 15.4" TFT screen. The glossy coating of the screen increases the reflections of the screen yet the bright panel is easy to view in bright conditions.
As most laptops of this price, performance is basic, extremely basic. The single-core Intel Celeron processor suits web browsing and word processing yet it shows its weakness when attempting anything more demanding. The performance, or lack of performance, is reflected in the integrated GPU, even though it is powerful enough for watching movies, playing games or anything more challenging shows that this GPU is an overall low performer.
Whilst the hard drive with a capacity of 160GB provides sufficient storage space for anything from movies to word documents. The 4-in-1 card reader and dual-layer DVD rewriter provides the user connectivity capabilities.
As a result of the low price, extra features are non-existent and the laptop is a bare-bones package and as a result you will have to take into consideration that any extras such as office software is included in your budget. Even though the X58L is not particularly bad in any area the lack of having a selling-point ensures that this laptop does not stand out. Even though it is a low price, bargain laptop that is highly useable for day to day applications.
