HP Mini 210-1156SA Laptop Review

A pink laptop? Not really male orientated but that doesn’t really matter does it? Nonetheless, it is certainly a very attractive laptop even if you’re not a woman. The muted pink with a metallic tint on the interior is certainly the perfect shade of pink, neither is it the luminous pink that hurts your eyes or the grey-scale pink that leaves you confused and questioning whether it really is pink or not. In all honesty the entire netbook reminds you of being in a candy shop and being overwhelmed with the colours and designs of all the sweets that surround you.
Furthermore, it’s an impressive netbook in that it weighs a mere 1.2kg and measures in at 2.3cm by 2.68 cm by 1.78cm and so there is certainly no problem in chucking this little netbook into your handbag or backpack and taking it with you on your travels whether that be on the train or to university.
The keyboard on this netbook is certainly impressive and exceptionally large for a notebook and that’s not a bad thing. The keys are big, the space bar is large and the isolated keys cut down on the accidental mis-presses. However, the keys aren’t the most comfortable and are actually rather plastic to touch but then again this isn’t such a big issue. The trackpad is small and neatly placed yet the click buttons are on the trackpad itself and so you may find yourself accidently nudging the cursor when you’re trying to open a file.
The screen is an impressive 10.1-inch 1024x600 affair and the screen is bright and glossy so viewing photos and surfing the internet is certainly a treat.
The netbook features a number of ports including three USB ports, a VGA out, a multi-format card reader and a solitary 3.5mm headphone jack but there isn’t a microphone. Furthermore, it features a 160GB hard drive which is more than suitable for such a small netbook. However, the 1.6GHz Intel Atom N455 CPU which is backed up by 1GB of RAM doesn’t really give this netbook the speed and performance power that some of us may want but it makes a breeze of those everyday things that you expect to do with a netbook such as surf the net, word process and that’s it really anything else including gaming is certainly something this netbook cannot handle.
Overall, this netbook is nothing new or spectacular and in terms of performance it really is a mediocre netbook. However, what does grab your attention is the design and the fact that it is lightweight but the battery life of a mere two hours is certainly a huge let down.
