Lenovo Thinkpad X301 Laptop Review
Lenovo have decided to release a laptop. The ThinkPad X301 is a laptop which is almost identical to that of the ThinkPad X300. However the X301, besides the change in the last digit, has really no changes, at all.
That is to the untrained eye, however if one knows what they are looking for then they will realise that inside Lenovo have placed Intel’s latest Centrino 2 Platform, the Coe 2 Duo SU9400 processor.
Like nearly all Lenovo ultra portable laptops the X301 has a rectangular black case. Along with this is a blue ThinkVantage button, a fingerprint reader and a keyboard light, just encase you lose your keys. However the list of goodies doesn’t stop there. Lenovo have also installed a 1.3 mega pixel webcam and a noise cancelling microphone, which should come in quite useful for business men and skype users.
Many people judge an ultra portable laptop by its keyboard and, quite frankly, this keyboard is absolutely amazing. The keys are the right size and are all perfectly situated, in actual fact it doesn’t even feel as if we’ve been typing on a laptop at all.
The X301 keeps the same basic, business aimed feature as many of its predecessors. Lenovo have given the X301 just three USB ports and a Gigabit Ethernet and a DisplayPort instead of a standard DVI socket.
After reading all of this you are most likely thinking why does this laptop cost so much. Well simple, the 64GB hard drive. This all causes faster application launches and boot times as well as a longer lifetime. Accompany the 64GB hard drive with a battery that last three hours then I don’t think you can really go wrong. However Lenovo also supply an extra three-cell battery that fits inside the drive bay which may come in handy for all you business folk.
Lenovo have targeted this laptop at the business people of our cities and they’ve done a very good job. The only thing is its lack of ports, this for a business person would be frustrating to see that a certain device could not link to their laptop simply because it doesn’t come with the right port.
The X301 gets 3 out of 5 stars.
