MSI GX700 204UK Laptop Review

MSI have brought out a laptop that could be the answer to many people’s problems. The MSI GX700-204UK is a very good replacement for a desktop machine and can also stack up to the odd game all for under a ₤1000.

Before we get into the details of this laptop there is one thing that should be brought to your attention straight away. That is the black glossy casing. I’m sure you are all thinking what could possibly be wrong with a black glossy casing, doesn’t it look amazing? Well to answer your question simply, yes it does look amazing. Well unfortunately it is a fingerprint magnet and if you buy this laptop you will have to also buy a cloth and clean this laptop regularly.

It’s a bargain considering if you wanted a laptop with a large screen and enough power to play games you could pay up to ₤2000. This laptop comes with an Mvidia Geforce 8600M GT MXM graphics chip which handles games perfectly and doesn’t make your laptop slower.

Well now time for the bad news, this laptop doesn’t come with a HD optical drive. It does have a DVD player but due to it’s resolution or I should say lack of resolution, high definition content will not be as crisp.

The GX700 like all other desktop replacements doesn’t like travelling and can only last about two hours on the road. With a laptop this size though I don’t really think you would want to carry it about with you. It does weigh in at 3.4kg and measures in at 395mm x 35mm x 278 mm, not exactly the best travel companion.

MSI have created another laptop that is quite decent. Okay you might not be able to view HD or run a marathon with this on your back but for the price you’re paying it’s not bad, not bad at all.
