Samsung Q210 Laptop Review

Our rating
7.0
The Q210 is the successor to the Q70 and is immediately better than the Q70.
Price: £700.00
Cheapest at: Laptops Direct
The Good
One very interesting feature of this laptop is the CD/DVD writer. Like any normal writer you can burn a disc but the interesting part about this writer is what you can do with the other side of the CD or DVD. This writer uses HP Lightscribe technology which means once you’ve burnt your CD you can flip it over and well quite frankly etch any image you want on the front of the CD. This is all due to a chemically reactive label – the wonders of modern science.
The Bad
The only down fall with paying the extra ₤50 or so is the look of the laptop. The red rim looks as if Samsung got bored or ran out of the amazingly glossy black paint they used on the Q70.
What you need to know
The Q210 weighs in just under 2kg, comes with a 12.1” display, 4GB of RAM, a DVD Super Multi Dual Layer with Lightscribe, 3 USB ports, Ethernet, D-Sub ports, HDMI, Bluetooth, wireless and an ExpressCard slot and the battery lasts about 6 hours all for around about ₤700. Not bad for the price you’re paying.

The only down fall with paying the extra ₤50 or so is the look of the laptop. The red rim looks as if Samsung got bored or ran out of the amazingly glossy black paint they used on the Q70. Another problem is the keyboard, it may look glossy and beautiful but once you touch it fingerprints, grime and dirty are attracted to it like metal to a magnet. The screen looks amazingly beautiful just like the keyboard does but there is a slight problem. Yeah you guessed it, it’s the glossy finish. It may look nice on the shelf in the store but unless you’re at the perfect angle it is quite difficult to view almost anything.

The Q210 doesn’t have the benefit of looking as stylish as the Q70 but it does however stack up in performance. If Samsung meshed together the style of the Q70 with a notched up version of the internals of the Q210 then my friend we would have an amazing laptop on our hands.
