Dell laptops aim to game
Wed, 19 Apr 2006
The massive international computer company Dell have launched their most powerful laptop to date. The new XPS M1710 is there first dual core laptop mainly aimed at high end users and gamers .

The XPS M1710 is powered by Intel Core Duo processors and an NVIDIA 512 MB GeForce graphics processor, massive RAM support of up to 2048 MB and is robust enough to allow users to play 3-D games while simultaneously performing other demanding tasks such as recording music or running a virus scan .

"To make sure gamers see every detail, we increased the brightness of the 17-inch widescreen display by 30 percent giving gamers the lease of life and colour they have always dreamed off. The whole thing fits into an 8.75-pound (3.96 kilograms) package. But the real selling point is the performance, which is up to 35 percent better than its predecessor, the XPS M170 with Intel’s Pentium M chip," Dell said.

When it comes to storage, the M1710 comes with a choice of SATA drives, the biggest being a 120GB. The M1710 also comes with DVD and CD writing as standard, which we would expect from such a high-end machine.

It looks like Dell have seen a hole in the market and are determined to take on the likes of Aleinware and other high end laptop makers to stake there claim on what is fast becoming a serious money making area of the PC market.

The M1710 will be available in two versions, the Metallic Black model with a base price of $2,600. The upgraded Special Edition Formula Red will only be available in the USA and Canada, and starts at $3,400 with a variety of CPU and GPU upgrades.
