Apple has become the second biggest supplier of
computers for the
education market, pushing
Dell into third place.
Apple has now acquired 14.7 per cent of the education market share.
According to analysts at Gartner, Research
Machines has maintained their position of first place with a 34.9 per cent
share of the market.
HP is in fourth place with 7.7 per cent of the market following Dell, which is in third place with 14.1 per cent.
Apple claimed in their MacBook magazine that by the fourth quarter of the current financial year, it would be the number one computer supplier in Europe, the
Middle East and
Africa (EMEA) in the
PC market for education.
Isabelle Durand, a Gartner analyst, said, "For the first time, Apple is number one in the EMEA education market with 11.6 per cent of the market in Q3/2006 against 9.6 per cent in Q3/2005."
She claimed, "Apple performed above the education market average (+9.2 per cent) and grew by 32 per cent in the EMEA education market. It has been quite successful into the education sector."
Durand believes that Apples MacBook recorded high sales volumes and its growth in the education market is a result of the company's high focus on that market.
