As laptop sales boom across the globe, that trend has been particularly evident in India where the laptop market grew by 84.8 per cent in the third quarter of 2007. Sales across India have now roughly doubled in the past year, with Hewlett Packard (PC) firmly in command of the Indian laptop market. Hewlett Packard lead the way in India with 37.8 per cent of the market, following by Lenovo and Acer .
Of sales in the Small Office and Home Office segment, laptops made up 43 per cent of the overall sales, as sales grew by 166 per cent. Overall, the third quarter saw growth of 25.1 per cent in the PC market in India, with desktop shipments also on the rise, though at 10.9 per cent they have been eclipsed by the success of laptops.
