Dell brings colour to its laptops

Two days ago Dell launched a new range of colourful laptops aimed at the consumer market. The range is being added to with two new Dell Inspiron models. These are available in a choice of eight colours from shocking pink, a bright yellow and of course black with widescreen displays of 15.4 and 17 inches.

The company introduced the new laptops at a fashion event in Marbella, Spain.

Dell Inspiron's colour scheme is aimed at consumers who want a media centre, workstation and fashion accessory. However the weight of 6.6 pounds may put a few off from carrying it around.

The new Dell Inspiron comes with optional built-in mobile broadband from Virgin . Customers can opt for a hard drive up to 250GB. The machines are powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processors or AMD Turion 64 X2 dual core processors.

Moreover, 802.11g Wi-Fi comes as a standard with an option of upgrading to draft-N wireless. There is a choice of operating systems Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Home Premium . Dell says that the Inspiron batteries have an in-use battery life of eight-and-a-half hours.

These models have an optional Blu-ray Disc drive and biometric fingerprint security . A Wi-Fi scanner is included as standard this can operate with the need for the system to be booted up to find a wireless connection.

Each notebook has four USB ports and an 8-in-1 media card reader. Customers can choose a 2 megapixel webcam as optional extra.
