Gateway has announced plans to release its first PC aimed specifically at gamers. Recently acquired by Acer, Gateway is set to take on a new direction, and has taken note of the significant growth in the gaming category in recent years.
Acer, the third-biggest PC maker in the world, also recently acquired Packard Bell, and is set to review Gateways range of products in the coming months.
However, despite Acers influence, Gateway will continue to design its own laptops , though the next series of laptops to be released is unlikely to debut until the latter part of the second quarter of 2008. Acers growth was highlighted in the last quarter, as the company enjoyed a 58 per cent increase in profits.
