Lenovo are the latest computer manufacturers to benefit from the surge in global laptop demand, recording a net profit of £50 million, up 177% from the year before. Furthermore, revenue was up 20 per cent to £2.1 billion.
The improved financial results are largely down to an increase in sales, with the 16.1 million units sold a 24 per cent increase on the previous year. The results were all the more pleasing in comparison to forecasts, with profits 20 per cent higher than had been predicted.
Lenovo are the worlds third largest computer makers with 8.2 per cent of the global market. However, despite the companys success, the fast growing Acer are expected to secure third place in the global market soon following their takeover of Gateway and Packard Bell, though Lenovo have themselves acquired IBM.
Lenovo rely on the emerging markets such as China for their success, dominating the Asia Pacific PC market with 21.3 per cent.
