London Business Travellers Losing 400 Laptops a Year
Thu, 22 Nov 2007
UK business travellers are guilty of losing 8,500 mobile devices at airports each year, according to a new survey by SafeNet. The information security company revealed items such as laptops, mobile phones and USB pens are those most commonly left behind by the UK’s business travellers.

In London alone, 400 laptops are left behind at airports each year, whilst a further 2,500 mobile devices are reported forgotten or found at London’s airports every year. Travellers using North West based airports were the next worst set of offenders, leaving behind 100 laptops and 800 mobile devices every year.

The findings are not only worrying for business travellers who would be inconvenienced by misplacing such items, but also for companies eager to protect their data. Companies are spending more and more on data protection each year, so the frequency with which business travellers are leaving behind items holding important data each year will be of great concern.
