Free Laptops Offered With Broadband

Free laptops are being offered by broadband providers in a bid to attract more customers to buy their broadband packages. AOL, who have teamed up with the Carphone Warehouse, are offering a free Dell laptop when you sign a 2-year broadband contract costing £19.99 a month, which works out at £479.76 over the two years. The broadband has a 40GB download limit and offers speeds of up to 8MB. The laptop, which is said to be worth £500, comes with Windows Vista Home Basic, an Intel Celeron processor, an 80GB hard-drive, 1GB of RAM as well as Wi-Fi.

Orange, meanwhile, have teamed up with PC World to offer a free Ei Systems laptop when you sign a 2-year broadband contract costing £14.99 a month. However, the lesser price is reflected in the package, with slower broadband and a lower spec laptop. The broadband offers speeds of up to 2MB, whilst the download limit is just 2GB.The laptop, meanwhile, is said to be worth £300, and comes with Windows XP Home, a 40GB hard-drive, 256MB of RAM and no Wi-Fi. With a reduced price for the first free months, the total package works out at £337.26 over the two years.
