Toshiba have launched its first HD DVD-R drive featured laptop. The
laptop,
Qosmio Q30 was launched in Japan last week.
The new HD DVD-R is a read-only version of the HD
DVD format. The single side of disc can hold up to 15GB of data. It is believed that this format has been released by Toshiba to compete with Sonys Blu Ray Disc.
The new Qosmio Q30 is the latest model in the Qosmio which are available worldwide.
Technically, Intels Core 2 Duo 2GHz processor powers the Qosmio Q30. The
PC weighs 4.8 kilo and has a 17 inch widescreen display with 1920 x 1280 pixel resolution. The display shows high-definition images and movies from HD DVD discs.
It is also equipped with a 320 GB
hard drive, digital
TV tuner card and HDMI output.
Toshiba state that the notebook will be launched in mid-January at International Consumer
Electronics Show (CES) in
Las Vegas . The cost of the laptop is 3,085 USD in Japan.
