Toshiba A200 180 laptop review

July 05, 2007

The Toshiba A200-180 laptop is a desktop replacement PC rather than a portable laptop machine due to its bulkiness.

It doesn’t have a great battery life, just 78 minutes, but it has other features that compensate for this.

The Toshiba Satellite A200-180 is powered by 1.86GHz processor, making it a reasonably powerful machine with 1GB of DDR RAM .

Options for connectivity are good. It also has a 6-in-1 card reader and quartet of USB ports, and a bonus is the 1.3Mp camera that comes with the system.

Surprisingly it does not have Bluetooth or a TV tuner function.

Screen displayed images and videos are good but the graphics were disappointing. After testing a frame rate score in the games test was 3fps (frames per second) which won’t hit the mark for gamers.

Despite the bulk the laptop has a stylish appearance with a silver interior and dark metallic blue chassis. The speakers are quite prominent which adds to the design of the machine.

The large touchpad makes cursor control easier. The keyboard design makes using it quite comfortable with adequate space to rest your palms.

Buttons are conveniently placed around the laptop with a volume control scroll-wheel at the front next to the headphone and microphone port. The laptop comes with a good software bundle that includes Microsoft Works 8.5, Ulead DVD MovieWriter and InterVideo WinDVD.

This laptop is not great for serious game players but as an entertainment, multimedia machine it has enough power and speed.
