Toshiba has decided to power their new
laptops with powerful
AMD processors . The
company claim it will soon launch three new Satellite
notebooks that will incorporate the
AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core
processor .
Henri Richard, AMDs Executive Vice President and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer said, "With
AMD and our industry-leading
technology partners,
Toshiba is bringing customers around the world a new level of choice in notebook PCs."
Hisatsugu Nonaka, Senior Vice President and CEO of Toshibas
Personal Computer and Network Company said "Our collaboration with AMD is intended to satisfy the demands of a broader market for mobile computing."
AMD claimed that Toshiba will launch their new models in the United States first then in
Europe, and later in
Australia .
AMD also commented on the merits of using better
hardware is to increase the performance of the PC, and to boost
memory performance, as well as intensive applications and enhance
Virus Protection . Extended battery life is another bonus.
The consumers will get the AMD laptops $100 cheaper than their Intel counterparts.
Intel did not comment on the threat of cheaper priced AMD-powered notebooks that are becoming popular. Even
Dell has launched AMD machines.
