Toshiba Corp. announced that all their new
laptops to be launched in 2008 will have in built
HD DVD Drives. The aim is to have the edge over
sales of
Blu-ray laptops and increase the sales of
Toshiba notebooks .
The three new models are the
Satellite P205, the Satellite X205 and the Qosmio F45.
The company will
power their laptops with HD DVD drives. Toshiba believes that it would be soon over take sales of Blu-ray laptops.
The company also claimed that it will sell laptops with NAND
Flash memory from June this year, as the price for NAND has been greatly reduced. Toshiba also ranks in second position in the top NAND chip makers list.
The new models will be the companys first mainstream
mobile solutions to incorporate HD DVD
drives with the Qosmio G45 being the first to get a HD DVD-RW drive.
The Satellite P205, Satellite X205 and Qosmio G45 will have high-resolution 17 inch diagonal widescreen displays. Whereas, the Qosmio F45 will have a 15.4 inch diagonal widescreen display.
Toshiba Satellite X205, Qosmio F45 and Qosmio G45
notebook computers are equipped with an HDMI port and they can be connected to any high definition display. The Qosmio G45 will offer output resolution of up to 1080p, whereas the Satellite X205 will offer an output of up to 1080i output.
The Qosmio G45 notebook, that is equipped with, HD DVD-R
optical drive that can burn up to 30 GB of
data, including
video or entire
photo and
music libraries, onto a single HD DVD recordable disc.
Moreover, the resolution of HD DVD playback is six times sharper than normal DVD format.
The latest statistics show that, Toshiba shipped 9.2 million notebooks in 2006.
