Battery complaints regarding Apples
MacBook and
MacBook Pro laptops have raised "performance issues" on the machines.
Apple has offered to replace the
battery for the MacBook and MacBook Pro
laptop and has released
software to fix the related issues caused by the defective batteries.
Apple said, "The factors causing the performance issues do not present a safety risk. You may continue to use your current battery."
The
company explained that batteries which are "visibly deformed" are defective. The company advises the MacBook and MacBook Pro users to install the corrective updates and to use the extra batteries that were purchased between February 2006 and April 2007.
However, the company says that if the problem persists after the update, then users are advised to contact their local Apple store to get replacement battery
free of charge.
Apple explains that users can encounter following battery problems:
1. The battery is not recognised; and
2. The battery will not charge and runs down quickly
Dave Verwer,
technology professional said, "I noticed my MacBook Pro would get down to 30% battery left and then shut off without warning."
"It had done this for a couple of weeks before I noticed that the battery case was swollen and coming away from the laptop casing."
Despite this recent problem it is true to say that MacBook laptops have been very successful for Apple.
Furthermore, Apples MacBook made $5.2 bn in the first three months of 2007.
