Intel have sparked a new initiative that could make it less desirable for criminals to nick laptop computers . The new technology could allow owners to lock down the contents of a machine, and even the processor, if it is stolen.
The technology, known as Intel Anti-Theft Technology, isn’t quite ready to bring to market yet. However, data protection is becoming more and more important, as criminals move into cyberspace. Intel have found that data protection is ranked very highly in terms of preference for computer features.
The technology, which is being brought to life by the Mobility Group chief of Intel, Dadi Perlmutter this week, would allow stolen laptops to be disabled remotely. With the encryption tied into system operation and the login process, these laptops will be useless to thieves.
Intel is working alongside other technology giants to make the technology available.
