Nokia has defined industry expectations by declaring they will not be moving into the laptop market citing a lack of money as the reason. Long term suspicions of Nokias intention to enter the laptop market were recently fuelled by Nokias partners decision to sell fixed-line and mobile broadband services. Industry insiders have voiced their surprise at the decision given the lack of extra development costs that would be incurred by the development of a laptop given that Nokia already manufacture large flip phones .
Mobile broadband is proving to be a particularly profitable area for communications companies, with 3, T-Mobile and Vodafone all stating it will be a major area of growth for their businesses this year. Nokia, meanwhile, are focusing their attention on the digital music and navigation markets.
