Orange Launches Free Laptop Promotion
Mon, 18 Aug 2008
Orange has launched a promotion offering a free laptop to new mobile broadband customers. The offer commenced on Saturday and entitles customers to a free laptop if they sign up to Orange’s Internet Everywhere mobile broadband package. Customers who sign up to the package will receive the ultra portable Asus Eee PC, which weighs less than one kilogram and has an 8.9 inch screen. Orange are the latest Internet Service Provider to offer such a deal, with the likes of the Carphone Warehouse previously offering customers a free laptop with certain packages.

However, customers are being warned against accepting such a package, as they may end up paying more in the long run. The free laptop package from Orange costs £10 more a month than its standalone mobile broadband deal, whilst the contract runs for a further six months. As the contract runs for over two years, at a cost of £25 per month, customers will pay in excess of £600 over the course of the contract, whilst the Asus Eee PC is available from just £179. Should customers save up for a laptop and opt for the standalone Orange broadband package – which costs £270 over 28 months – they could save £150.
