Samsung have revealed that they are to release a new ultra-thin laptop to rival the Apple MacBook Air and Hewlett Packards Voodoo Envy. Samsung are marketing the laptop as lighter than air, with the X360 laptop weighing 0.09kg less than the MacBook Air, which weighs in at 1.36 kilograms. However, despite its lightness, the laptop still sports 3 USB ports, a VGA output, an Ethernet socket, a 7 in 1 memory card reader, a 34 mm express card slot and a built in HDMI connection.
Meanwhile, other features incorporated into the laptop include a 1.3 megapixel camera, a Bluetooth port, wireless connectivity capability, a 128GB Solid State Drive and an Intel Centrino 2 processor. However, the notebooks multitude of features means it is thicker than the MacBook Air, measuring 0.66 inches at one end and 1.2 inches at the other, compared with the Airs 0.16 inches and 0.71 inches. The X360 comes with a 13.3 inch screen, but does not include an optical drive.
The notebook is set to be released in late September or early October internationally and is expected to cost between £1,000 and £1,500.
