Lenovo Denies Plans to Move its Laptop Production
Mon, 11 Feb 2008
Lenovo has moved to refute reports that it is moving sections of its business to Taiwan . There had been media reports that Lenovo was to move its production unit of ThinkPad notebooks to Taiwan – reports which seemed strange given the typically cheaper cost of labour in mainland China compared with Taiwan.

Whilst Lenovo have denied that they are to move their ThinkPad production unit to Taiwan, a representative of the company was reported to have said that the denial "doesn’t necessarily mean they [we] won’t be doing something in Taiwan". Quite what is unclear, though Lenovo will be eager to regain third place in the global PC shipment rankings, having been edged out by Acer .
