Belkin Asia Pacific has unveiled a trio of new laptop accessories designed to enhance the comfort and safety of laptop users. The electronics manufacturer has launched its new Laptop Cooling Hub, Laptop Cooling Lounge and Laptop Coolstrip, aimed at keeping both the laptop and its user cool. The Laptop Cooling Lounge prevents the laptop from overheating by using natural convection to enhance fan cooling, whilst also directing the heat away from the users legs. The accessory, which is to retail for around £20, has no power adaptor and is compatible with laptops with screens of 17 inches or less.
Belkins other new accessory is the Laptop Cooling Hub, which has four USB ports and elevates the hot rear of the laptop above the users knee to improve comfort. Retailing at around £25, it is the more expensive version of the Laptop CoolStrip, which is a simple strip of material laptop users can place on their knee to ensure they are not subjected to the laptops heat, though its price of £10 reflects the absence of any features such as USB ports.
It is not only users comfort that will improve as a result of the accessories, with US researchers finding that male laptop users are risking infertility by having the warm laptops on their lap for extended sessions.
