Fri, 27 Jun 2008
Dell has unveiled its new Studio laptop line which is designed to spruce up the range it offers. The laptops are available in seven colours, breaking the mould of Dell’s typically functional and industrial appearance. With prices starting at £400, the notebooks are positioned between the Inspiron series and the more expensive XPS series in terms of price.

The Studio 15 laptop is the most basic notebook of the series and comes with a 15.4 inch screen, compared to the 17 inch screen of the £500 Studio 17 laptop. Both laptops have dual core Intel Core 2 Duo processors, hard drives of up to 320GB and support for up to 4GB memory . Both laptops run Microsoft Windows Vista, though the Studio 15 laptop is compatible with Advanced Micro Devices chips. Both laptops also have wireless networking and an integrated webcam . The Studio 15 is the lighter of the two laptops at 2.77 kilograms, compared to the 3.57 kilogram weight of the Studio 17.

Dell have unveiled the laptop in the wake of positive first quarter results, having made up ground on Hewlett Packard, with shipments up by 21.6 per cent on the previous year.
