The MacBook Air is facing even more competition in the ultra thin laptop market following the news that Voodoo PC are to release their new Envy 133 laptop . The new lightweight carbon fibre computer has been produced by the Hewlett Packard owned Voodoo PC, and measures 1.78cm at its thickest point, 1.52mm less than its illustrious Apple-produced rival.
Despite the Envys thickness advantage, the MacBook Air is 0.13kg lighter than its rival, at 1.36kg compared to 1.49kg, and has a longer battery life of 5 hours, compared to the Envys 3.5 hours. Whilst neither of the two have an internal optical drive for reading CDs or DVDs, The HP laptop comes in a bundle with an external drive to overcome the problem.
The Envy laptop also has a 13.3 inch screen, an Intel processor, a backlit keyboard and a power pack Ethernet connection point. The Envy will retail in the region of £1,050 when it is released later this summer.
Voodoo PC Chief Executive Rahul Sood recently annoyed Apple by slicing his birthday cake with a MacBook Air, and having released a rival laptop, is unlikely to be a favourite amongst Apple employees at present.
