MacBook Air Faces Competition From Envy Laptop
Mon, 16 Jun 2008
The MacBook Air is facing even more competition in the ultra thin laptop market following the news that Voodoo PC are to release their new Envy 133 laptop . The new lightweight carbon fibre computer has been produced by the Hewlett Packard owned Voodoo PC, and measures 1.78cm at its thickest point, 1.52mm less than its illustrious Apple-produced rival.

Despite the Envy’s thickness advantage, the MacBook Air is 0.13kg lighter than its rival, at 1.36kg compared to 1.49kg, and has a longer battery life of 5 hours, compared to the Envy’s 3.5 hours. Whilst neither of the two have an internal optical drive for reading CDs or DVDs, The HP laptop comes in a bundle with an external drive to overcome the problem.

The Envy laptop also has a 13.3 inch screen, an Intel processor, a backlit keyboard and a power pack Ethernet connection point. The Envy will retail in the region of £1,050 when it is released later this summer.

Voodoo PC Chief Executive Rahul Sood recently annoyed Apple by slicing his birthday cake with a MacBook Air, and having released a rival laptop, is unlikely to be a favourite amongst Apple employees at present.
