International Data Corporation (IDC) have released predictions of further growth in the European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) PC market in 2008. The analyst company have forecast a growth of 14.4 per cent in the PC market, largely influenced by expansion in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
That growth would see PC sales surpass 100 million, though the desktop market is expected to shrink by 2.6 per cent this year. That contraction is largely due to the increased popularity of notebooks, which are expected to see an increase in sales by over 20 per cent.
2007 saw the EMEA PC market grow by 15.9 per cent, with shipments totalling more than 88 million.
