Dell has unveiled the new Latitude XFR D630 laptop signifying the companies entry into the rugged laptop market. The rugged category refers to a laptops ability to cope with shock, vibration, extreme temperatures and being dropped, amongst other things. The laptop meets Department of Defence military standards and sees Dell enter into competition with the likes of Panasonic .
Dell claims that their new laptop offers 23% better performance than the Panasonic CF-30, stating that it is the best rugged laptop on the market. With a 14.1 inch widescreen LCD display and an optional screen, users are able to make the most of the Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz processor and 4GB of thermally enhanced DDR2 RAM.
Security is ensured by a fingerprint reader, though the laptop will cost around £2,000.
