Fujitsu are to begin retailing their new high performance hard drives this summer, offering more storage space and faster performance. The MHZ2 BJ series will offer drives with a spin rate of 7,200rpm, providing an extra 25 per cent performance on top of that offered by its rivals. Whilst the capacity of the hard drive will vary depending on the precise model purchased, Fujitsu have revealed capacities of up to 320GB will be available.
The new range represents an improvements on Fujitsus current 7,200rpm drives, with the existing 2.5-inch drives only offering capacities of up to 120GB. The drives 2.3 watt consumption for read/write operations is similar to other hard drives. Fujitsu are hoping to sell 2 million of the hard drive range globally by this time next year.
