Dell has announced it is to begin retailing a new series of laptops with high definition Blu-ray disc drives. The Inspiron 1525 laptop has a 15.4 inch high definition wide aspect display with 720p resolution, as well as an HDMI port, making it one of the leading laptops on the market in terms of its visual performance. The Broadcom Media PC technology integrated into the laptop provides high definition performance on integrated graphics.
Having recently won the battle against HD DVDs, the Blu-ray player disc drive plays and burns CDs, and is fully backwards compatible. The burner drive is an extra option available to consumers. Dell also offer a slender travel power adapter to enhance the potential for film watching on the move, and an array of accessories designed to emphasize its capacity for visual performance. One touch access to media files is also available through the Dell MediaDirect technology incorporated into the laptop.
The laptop starts at around £450 and is being retailed in America, Canada and Europe .
