Quanta Computer has increased its 2008 shipment target to over 40 million laptop PCs . The worlds largest contract laptop PC maker shipped 32 million notebooks last year, and initially forecast a 12.5 per cent increase for 2008. The global PC market has grown in strength in recent years, largely due to the surge in demand for laptops .
The shipment target doesnt include the low-cost laptop section of the market. As well as manufacturing PCs for the likes of Dell and Hewlett Packard, Quanta also makes laptops for the One Laptop Per Child foundation, and with the emergence of a greater number of low cost laptop makers, it could prove to be a particularly successful sector for Quanta.
