Samsung has announced it is to re-enter the American
computer market with a new series of
laptops .
Samsung unveiled its new ultralight
notebooks on the same day that
Apple unveiled its latest line up, as the diversified electronics maker ambitiously looks to re-enter a hugely crowded market. In addition to the stiff competition they face from Apple, Samsung must also oust fellow Asian competitors such as
Lenovo,
Sony and
Toshiba . Samsungs US Computer Division Senior Product Manager, Bret Berg, ambitiously declared, These products really go after Apple and Sony. This is the
MacBook Air killer.
Samsung have already unveiled their X360
laptop, which weighs 0.09kg less than the
MacBook Air. The price has now been revealed at $2,499 the same as the MacBook Air and comes with a 128 gigabyte solid state drive the same as the MacBook Air. Samsung also unveiled their X460, which again rivals a MacBook Air model, whilst the NC10 premium
netbook was also revealed, costing just $499.
Whilst the ultralight notebooks were the focus of Samsungs announcement, the Korean outfit are also releasing bulkier laptops dubbed
desktop replacements, as well as new models aimed at business professionals.
