Acer has responded to Sonys new affordable entertainment
laptops with a new range of Aspire
notebooks . Priced even more reasonably than Sonys NW laptops, Acers Aspire
laptop PCs start from $479, and $749 for a
notebook with a
Blu-ray drive.
The starting model is the 15.6 inch Aspire AS5536
computer, which features a 16:9 aspect ratio, LED backlit technology, a multi-gesture touchpad, as well as Acers PowerSave function, and the
Acer Backup Manager. An equivalent model is also available with a 17.3 inch screen, though will cost $120 more, though that price difference also accounts for a bigger
hard drive, improved graphics and an
Intel processor rather than an AMD one. Both
computers have a built-in Webcam.
Acer are also offering a more advanced, yet still affordable, model, with the 15.6 inch Acer Aspire AS5739G starting from $749. The laptop has an Intel Core2 Duo T6500 processor and Nvidias GeForce GT130M
graphics card, offering decent gaming performance as well as HD
DVD playback. With built-in stereo speakers, a bass booster and 5.1-channel output for surround sound, as well as a Blu-ray and DVD drive, Acer are marketing this machine as a mobile multimedia powerhouse.
