Lenovo has unveiled its
ThinkPad T400s
laptop a cheaper alternative to the ThinkPad X301 notebook. The ThinkPad T400s is about a pound heavier than its more expensive alternative, weighing it at just under 4 pounds. The T400s laptop
PC is also thicker than the X301, at 0.83 of an inch compared to roughly 0.75.
Prices for the T400s are expected to start at $1,599, a full $1,000 cheaper than the initial starting price of the X301. Prices for the X301, intended to offer a rival for the
Apple MacBook Air, have since fallen, with the X301 priced from $1,939 on Lenovos website last week, in response to the reduced price of a MacBook Air down to a starting price of $1,499.
The 14.1 inch screen of the T400s
notebooks is nearly an inch larger than those of the X301, whilst the T400s
laptops also have a more powerful processor than the X301, with a 2.53GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo processor compared to the X301s 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The T400s
computer also comes with the choice of a 128GB solid state drive or a 250GB
hard drive, and offers up to six hours of battery life. A
DVD burner and a
Blu-ray disc player both come as options, whilst the PCs come with an Express Card slot.
