Sony has announced a new range of
VAIO laptops, marketed as low end but stylish. The NW series will replace the NS series, and features a number of improvements. The
notebooks will include an
HDMI output, newer
Intel Core 2 Duo processor architecture, as well as an optional ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 graphics chipset. The HDMI output enables users to link their
laptop up to a larger screen, whilst the NW series
notebook PCs also include a button to turn of the display when it isnt in use, whilst keeping the machine running. This feature is expected to prove useful for power saving while listening to music or when the
PC is hooked up to a bigger screen.
The NW series
computers do possess a number of similar features to its NS predecessors, including a
Blu-ray drive for watching
HD content. The
laptops will also boast the VAIOs customary sleek styling, with a choice of finish colours including brown, white and silver. The notebooks will also feature the isolated keyboard first seem in Sonys laptops in 2004.
NW series laptops will, however, have a maximum resolution of 1377-by-768, meaning the laptop display wont be able to take advantage of the Blu-ray drive.
