Mobile network operator
Orange is allegedly set to begin selling
Apple laptops with its
broadband packages as of this summer. The
Mobile Today magazine claims that the
mobile phone,
mobile broadband, and
home broadband provider, will become the first company to offer
Apple laptops with its
laptop broadband bundles. The Apple
notebooks, however, wont be free, but will reportedly be heavily discounted by the firm.
The magazine alleges that Apples £719
MacBook the cheapest
laptop offered by the American outfit is the most likely candidate to be subsidised as part of the deal. The white 2.0GHz 13 inch
notebook PC will almost certainly be subsidised if an agreement can be reached, unless Apple release a cheaper, ultra portable laptop by this summer.
It is also claimed that orange have tested their mobile
broadband dongles and are reaching the final stages of their discussions with Apple. Orange have declined to comment, though the report claims that high powered Orange officials are hoping that any agreement may act as a stepping stone to Orange securing future deals for Apple laptops, which may include built in mobile broadband
internet technology from an embedded
Sim card .
