Acer has become the latest
PC manufacturer to launch a multitouch display
laptop . The
Acer Aspire 5738PB
notebook will compete with similar products from
Dell,
Hewlett Packard and
Lenovo, all of which feature multitouch technology. The technology allow users to manipulate images, write notes and zoom into maps using two fingers. Lenovo’s Thinkpad T400 laptop may have the edge, however, boasting four finger multitouch capability.
Acer is coinciding the US launch of its
new laptop with the release of the latest
Microsoft operating system – Windows 7. The new Aspire laptop will feature the new operating system, which has native touchscreen support.
The laptop will be priced from $799, which will get users a 2.2GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 processor. The
notebooks battery life remains unknown, though it will have a 320GB
hard drive and weigh 6.16 pounds.
Meanwhile, Acer has also broadened its range of Acer Timeline
laptops . The Acer Aspire Timeline AS1810 will be the thinnest and lightest of the new laptops, weighing just 3.5 pounds It will have a 1.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a 320GB hard drive and 4GB
memory, costing $599.
