Portable
handheld device users are changing the way we use
laptops according to a recent survey by LogMeIn. With
iPhones and
blackberries increasingly popular, consumers are opting to access the
internet on smaller devices on the move and leave their
notebooks at home. The survey revealed that 57 per cent of LogMeIn users now opt to leave their laptops at home at least half of the time, and use their
iPhone to access the internet, with the LogMeIn Ignition application allowing them to access files on their
notebook PC when on the move.
The survey results are revealed in a new e-book from LogMeIn and reveal how users now access both the internet, and files on their PC using LogMeIn, from virtually anywhere. The survey of 400 users revaled that two thirds of iPhone users use the Ignition application to access a home or work
computer, with
email the most cited reason for needing to access their
PCs . Nearly two in five users use the iPhone application for
IT support, while over a quarter use the application to assist families and friends. The e-book contained stories of iPhone usage in a wide range of locations including mountain tops, court rooms and emergency rooms.
