Lenovo has announced it is to add SimpleTap technology to its Thinkpad X200
tablet PC and T400s
laptop . The SimpleTap application makes it easier to use the
touchscreen technology on the
computers . By tapping the screen twice, users can bring up a selection of hardware options, which can be customised to suit the user.
Lenovos introduction of multitouch screen tools has made Lenovos notebooks fully interactive, with
Lenovo claiming users can navigate around their applications using four fingers to flick, pinch and zoom through documents. Hardware options include
digital cameras,
microphones and
wireless radios . The tools will be most useful to those with design or engineering needs. SimpleTap will be released at the end of October as a download.
In addition to the SimpleTap application, Lenovo has also announced an optional superbright screen for the X200. The display will be coated with an anti-reflective layer, providing 1.2 per cent reflectivity, a wide viewing angle and a bright 400 nit screen.
Lenovo will be hoping the new technology ensures their tablet PC and laptop prove a success, at a time when
netbooks are accounting for a growing portion of sales.
