A new survey has found that the Apple iPad is proving a popular way of reading books, in a finding which reinvigorates the debate about whether the iPad will replace of compliment more conventional notebook PCs . UK copywriting firm Cooper Murphy Webb found that 41 per cent of iPad owners see the device as the best way of reading a book, compared with 36 per cent who preferred to pick up a book.
While Apple fanatics may try to laud this finding as evidence that the broad appeal of the iPad could see the sleek device replace notebooks, the survey is being interpreted by most as evidence that the iPad constitutes a good addition to a traditional laptop . Indeed, the survey of 1,000 UK iPad owners found that just 24 per cent of respondents use the iPad as their primary entertainment device, compared with 33 per cent who use their laptop.
Indeed, 55 per cent of respondents indicate they prefer internet browsing on a laptop, though the iPad was found to be significantly more popular for this purpose than mobile phones .
