Samsung Tablet PC to Rival Mini Laptops
Wed, 17 Mar 2010
Computer manufacturer Samsung has announced it will enter the tablet PC market later this year. The tablet PC market has gained considerable media attention since Apple unveiled its iPad device, and Samsung’s Philip Newton has confirmed the company intends to launch a product to rival the iPad. While the iPad has been criticised for lacking much of the functionality offered by laptops and even netbooks, Newton hinted that any Samsung tablet PC will have the power of a netbook PC.

Newton also intimated that any Samsung tablet would focus on connectivity, offering users more inputs and outputs than competitors products. It is not the first time Samsung has ventured into the tablet PC market. The Q1 tablet computer was largely unsuccessful, however, failing to appeal to consumers.

Meanwhile, head of Samsung Australia, Emmanuele Sinaneseu, has voiced his belief that tablet PCs could replace smartphones as the must have gadget on which to surf the internet. Sinaneseu predicts that the smartphone will be relegated to a secondary device, but believes a more powerful tablet PC could feasibly overtake notebooks . While any users requiring a truly powerful PC may opt for a desktop, the portability offered by tablet PCs and laptop computers offers a major advantage.
