Acer has launched its new Timeline 1825PT PC – a hybrid between two of the most popular types of laptops at present. The new Timeline notebook merges a netbook and a tablet PC, featuring an 11.6 inch multi touch swivel screen. Fully rotatable, the screen allows users to perform a full range of multi touch functions, including two finger scrolling and pinching to zoom, flip and rotate. Though not as sleek as the navigation on recent Apple devices such as the iPhone and the iPad, the Timeline’s functionality does make it easier to navigate.
It is the relatively low end specifications of the PC which gives it netbook characteristics, featuring a 1.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive . The computer is larger than many netbooks, but weighs just 1.72kg, and has a screen resolution of 1366x768. The Timeline PC also has 3G support, inbuilt Bluetooth and WiFi, and a 5 in 1 card reader.
Tablet PCs have been the subject of media focus since Apple launched the iPad, sparking comparisons of tablet PCs and the increasingly popular netbooks.
