Be Broadband Not Chasing Mobile Laptop Users
Wed, 12 May 2010
Internet service provider Be Broadband has dismissed suggestions that it is looking to move into the mobile broadband industry, instead affirming its commitment to improving home broadband services. The majority of internet service providers have diversified into the mobile broadband market, as have all of the major mobile phone operators, though Be Broadband officials say the company is instead looking to improve its share of the home broadband market while improving the speed of its services.

This year has seen Be try to attract more customers, while nine month contracts have been advertised in student-populated areas. Thus, while desktop and laptop users can enjoy Be’s services at home, it may be some time before these services are offered on the move, in spite of the proliferation of netbook users, and the greater portability craved by many PC users.

Be Broadband is, however, in talks with O2 over establishing a partnership that would allow Be customers access to special O2 deals, while the home broadband provider also expects to unveil a new range of broadband bundles and home phone deals later this year.
