The Apple iPhone 4 was a much loved edition to the Apple range of devices. It caused buyers to queue for days and even caused shipments to be delayed due to the huge amount of demand. In the first three days alone 1.7million iPhone 4's were sold.
Now the turn has come for the iPod range to be given a make over and the release of a fourth generation, £39, 2GB iPod Shuffle and a fourth generation, £189, FaceTime boasting iPod Touch as well as the release of a 6th generation iPod Nano that features multitouch technology in an all new Apple iPod line-up. However, even though they have not been released pre-orders can be made ahead of shipping that should start next week sometime.
A benefit of the release of all this new Apple technology is that their older generation iPods will drop in price and a 160GB iPod Classic that used to cost up to £300 can now be bought for under £200. It may not possess the latest technology but if it's a music player that your after you cannot go wrong.
If we start small and work up the iPod shuffle is like the iPod Nano colourful and features the new clip-and-go feature. Just like the previous generation it includes the clickable control pad. However, the extra addition is the new VoiceOver technology that makes your iPod Shuffle, at the click of a button, tell you the song title, playlist name or battery status. Another nifty little button is that shuffle button on the top right that does what it says on the tin, in the left position it shuffles your music and the in the middle it doesn't.
The main features of the iPod Nano besides being 46% smaller than its previous generation measuring in at 37.5mm x 40.9mm x 8.78mm, is that it is also 42% lighter weighing a mere 21g. More importantly it features 1.5inch colour display with a 240x240 pixel resolution and the latest in multi-touch technology allowing you to navigate easily through your iPod, customise your home screen, set your Genius playlists and tune into your favourite FM radio stations.
It is truly the lightest and thinnest iPod Touch at a weight of 101g and dimensions of 111.0mm x 58.9mm x 7.2mm you won't feel a thing when you slide this inside your pocket. The iPod Touch, being an iPhone without calling capabilities, until now features FaceTime allowing you to make video calls the only difference on this is that it can only, and has to, be done over Wi-Fi. With a front-facing camera, back-facing camera and microphone, again reminiscent of the iPhone 4, no matter what angle you want to take a photo you'll be able to. The new iPod Touch includes the incredible Retina Display, HD Video Recording and faster and better game play thanks to the A4 processor.
The new iPod range, which is now pre-orderable, will be released early next week, in the mean time get in queue because if the iPhone 4 was anything to go by then customers may have to wait a very long time to get one, especially if you want one before the Christmas break.
