Dell has launched a new
netbook under its
Alienware brand, though the new mini
notebook doesn’t conform to the price and specifications of other
netbooks . The M11x netbook is being marketed as a gaming
PC, boasting an impressive range of features. The mini
laptop has an 1.3GHz
Intel ultra low voltage Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor, a Geforce GT 335M graphics card, 1GB of dedicated GDDR3
memory, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory at 1066MHz, as well as a choice between a 245GB SSD and a 500GB 7,200 rpm
hard drive .
The netbook, which has eight and a half hours of battery life, comes with 64-bit
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate edition, an 11 inch screen, three USB ports, a card reader and 802.11n
Wifi to ensure
internet connectivity. Weighing around 2 kilograms, it is one of the heavier netbooks on the market, though all of these features come at a cost. Whereas most netbooks cost just a few hundred pounds, this ‘mini beast’ will set you back at least £749, prompting many analysts to doubt whether the M11x will be a success.
The netbook market has come under scrutiny since
Apple launched its new
iPad last week, though analysts are increasingly forecasting that the iPad’s inability to multitask will hinder its sales.
